Home About Us
wovannamozambiqueThe Columbia-Willamette Chapter of Women of Vision was founded in 1998.  We are women from all around the Portland, Vancouver, and Lake Oswego metropolitan areas who come from many different backgrounds, age groups, and churches, but who all share a passion for serving the poor, especially women and children.

Women of Vision is a volunteer ministry of World Vision that educates, inspires, and equips women to use their God-given resources in compassionate, mutually life-changing service to impoverished and oppressed women and children worldwide.

World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

World Vision helps transform the lives of the world’s poorest children and families in nearly 100 countries, including the United States. Their non-profit work extends assistance to all people, regardless of their religious beliefs, gender, race, or ethnic background. There are now over 50 Women of Vision chapters that support dozens of international World Vision projects and local projects that address the needs of children and women.

Columbia-Willamette Women of Vision is committed to serving the poor in three ways:

    1. Education and advocacy:  Women of Vision offers opportunities to learn about poverty issues through their speaker series and Heart of the Matter study.  They advocate for women and children in poverty by speaking out, writing letters, and walking 6,000 Steps on World AIDS Day December 1.

    2. Tackling global poverty and injustice:  Columbia-Willamette Women of Vision supports World Vision projects in four countries:  Children of the Tunnels project in Mongolia; Child Protection projects in Cambodia; microenterprise development in Honduras; and AIDS prevention, clean water, and sanitation work in Mozambique. Our fiscal year (beginning Oct. 1) goal for 2011-2012 is to raise at least $150,000.

    3. Local work:  Women of Vision volunteers in North Portland, supporting the work of Children’s Relief Nursery.
